Child Fatality Investigations Consultation and Training

CFI is a consultation and training program designed for agencies and professionals involved in the investigation of child deaths. The focus of the program is the interdisciplinary approach to investigations and the development of protocols and policies. Topics addressed in the training program include:

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

Child abuse homicides

Analysis of existing policies and protocols

Interpretation of injuries and causes of death

Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy

The program is designed as a two-day course provided on-site. All materials are provided by the instructor. Course content can be tailored to suit the needs of the requesting agency and can be customized for conferences and seminars. We will provide your agency or organization with the best training possible!

About the Instructor

Lisa Mayhew is a child development specialist and death investigator based in North Carolina. She has spent the past ten years working with children and families, and training and consulting with professionals across the country. She serves as an adjunct instructor with the North Carolina Justice Academy. Receiving both her bachelor and master degrees in child development, her areas of specialty include children aged 0-3, children with special needs, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
