1. Stay alert and tuned in to your surrounding, wherever
you are. Don’t be
taken by surprise. Be aware and be
prepared.
2. Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable in
a place or situation,
leave right away and get help if necessary.
3. At night, walk in well lighted areas only, with a friend if possible.
4. Try and use "Automatic Teller Machines" during daylight
hours. If possible
take a friend along to help
watch your surroundings while using the ATM.
5. After shopping, lock your items in the trunk of your
vehicle or at least out
of sight of someone walking
by your vehicle.
6. Lock your vehicle and remove the keys. Hold the
keys in your hand when
approaching your vehicle. This speeds
up your entry into the vehicle and
the keys can be used as a defensive
weapon if attacked.
7. While driving, keep your vehicle doors locked .
8. Report any suspicious persons or activities to authorities
as soon as
possible.
