Who is eligible? Any person who is homebound, unable to have meals prepared or unable to prepare meals for themselves is eligible.
How much do the meals cost? The cost of the meals is $1.40 each, which can be paid weekly or monthly. However, if hardship is involved, other arrangements can be made thanks to generous donations from organizations, members of the community and a grant from the United Way.
When and where are the meals delivered? The noon-day meal is delivered 5 days a week, including weekday holidays. We deliver in the Sandhills area of Moore County -- Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, Pinebluff, and Addor.
Where are the meals prepared? The meals are prepared at the Penick Village Kitchens.
What types of meals are provided? The meals provide a third of the Recommended Daily Nutrition and are prepared depending on the Recipient's requirements -- low sodium, diabetic, or regular.
Where do the Recipients come from? The Recipients are usually referred to us by the Departments of Aging and Social Services, First Health of the Carolinas, Home Health Agencies, Doctors, Nurses, Churches, or other responsible parties.
